Father William Curtis Bush, Retired Pastor of St. Luke Catholic Church in Nicholasville, Kentucky, died September 3, 2025. Born in Lexington, he was the son of the late Curtis P. and Cecelia Hannon Bush. He attended St. Catherine Academy, Lexington Latin School, Holy Cross Seminary, La Cross, WI, and St. Paul Seminary, St. Paul, MN.
Ordained June 9, 1962, Father Bush taught at Lexington Catholic High School for 8 years, was a member of Knights of Columbus, 4th degree (Faithful Friar), Catholic Diocese of Lexington, former member of Covington Diocese. He was Pastor of St. Luke Catholic Church 1989-2019. Church of the Annunciation, Paris, KY 1979-1989; Assistant Pastor of St. Peter Catholic Church, Lexington, 1970-1979; Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary, Lexington, 1967-1970; St. Cecelia Catholic Church Independence, KY 1962-1967 and taught at Holy Cross High School, Latonia for 5 years and served on the Diocesan Presbyterate Council 2003-2009.
He is survived by Brian and Angie, Courtney, Cameron, Maddie, and Beau Bailey and the members of St. Luke Catholic Church, Nicholasville, KY.
A Mass of Resurrection occurred at 10 am, Friday, September 12th, at St. Luke Catholic Church, 304 S. Main St, Nicholasville, KY. Reverend Nick Pagano was the main celebrant; the concelebrants were Reverend Anthony Stephens, CPM, Reverend John Moriarty, Reverend Chris Clay, Reverend Gary Simpson, and Reverend Aldrin Tayag. Deacons Marco Rajkovich and Gary Rudemiller assisted. Deacon Mark Averett served as cantor. Pallbearers were Brian Bailey, Cameron Bailey, Gerald Deeken, Steve Dobson, William (BJ) Penland, Greg Rhineheimer, Richard Shofner, Terry C. Thoroughman, and Joe White. Honorary bearers were Neil Brumlow, Johnny Collier, Donal Isaac, Bill Langfels, Charles Partin, and Randy Reed.
Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, Lexington in the Hannon-Bush Family Lot.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
