Bl. Imelda Lambertini, daughter of Count Egano of Bologna, Italy, was born in 1322. While still a child, she put together a small oratory in her house. She was drawn to religious life and planned to be a nun. She had a devotion to St. Agnes of Rome, of whom she may have had visions, and Mary and the Eucharist. From childhood, she already showed a great love for the Eucharistic Jesus, but the chaplain reminded her that she could only receive Communion when she turned 14. Nevertheless, on May 12, 1333 (the vigil of the Ascension), when she was only 11, she went to Mass and presented herself for Holy Communion. The priest ignored her completely, but the Lord wished to grant little Imelda's desire. A radiant Host rose into the air and stopped in front of her. After she received the Body of Christ, her pure white soul flew straight up to heaven. She died in ecstasy of love and joy. She is the patron saint of First Communicants. May our desire be as strong as that of Bl. Imelda for Our Eucharistic Lord. May our soul rise to new heights upon receiving Him and may He fill us with love and joy. May our lives glorify God in all our thoughts, words, and actions. May we bring Him honor and love. Come to the Holy Mass daily and every weekend. Come to adore Him in Adoration on the altar.
